The Christmas Wrap Up

seeing my christmas tree is still in storage and john decided that lachlan was too young for a tree anyway, we didn't have one again this year. instead, we piled all the presents up on the side table in the family room. surprisingly, lachlan wasn't interested in them at all - in fact, the only time he touched them was when one was in his way when he went to open the drawer! i know there seem to be an excessive amount of presents on the table considering there are just three of us, but in our defence, there are also presents for the rest of the family amongst ours.

we spent christmas day at paul and shanice's place this year.. lachlan and tara spent some quality cuddle time on the couch playing with tara's present from his uncle john..

after a yummy lunch of beef on the spit, lachlan decided it was time for a swim.. after heading into the pool fully dressed, including shoes, we convinced him to wait long enough to get changed into his swimmers and then we went back for take two.

Seasons Greetings

merry christmas everyone! hope you all have a safe holiday with good food, great wine and even better company.

we thought it would be nice to dress lachlan up in a xmas-y type outfit and take some photos to turn into cards.. i'm sure that once he's grown up, he will groan everytime he sees these pix, but i happen to think he looks too cute for words..

The Griffith Kid's Christmas Party - The SuperSlide

one of the other attractions on offer at the party was a super slide. obviously lachlan was a little young to be going on it on his own, but that's why having a daddy is so handy. after lachlan gave a cuddle and kiss to brodie, he and john lined up, climbed the stairs and then john came sliding down with lachlan on his lap. lachlan didn't seem overly impressed with the whole thing, but then again, he didn't seem scared either. i don't think the expression on his face changed the whole time he was on the slide?

The Griffith Kid's Christmas Party - Baby Animal Farm

we decided that lachlan was old enough to actually get something out of christmas this year (he was only 8 weeks old last year), so we started things off by taking him to the griffith kid's christmas party. most of the "attractions" there were targeted at older kids, but they did have a baby animal farm on offer, so we crossed our fingers took lachlan in to check out the animals. he was a little overwhelmed to start with as it was pretty crowded in the enclosure, and it quickly went pear-shaped when some kids (of the goat variety) decided to get a little assertive with their sniffing out of snacks. it didn't take him long to bounce back though and we even had him patting a piglet before too long..

Babycino

after my huge shopping spree today (thanks van!) we stopped for some sustenance.. we ordered lachlan a babycino which had more chocolate powder on it than john's cappuccino did - half of which ended up smeared over lachlan's face..

Facial Expressions

thought i would share these photos with you all.. a couple of weeks ago, lachlan has having some milk to drink with his afternoon tea.. he looked a little guilty about the fact that he managed to splash his milk all over his face.. but then he figured he wasn't in trouble and it was all smiles again..

Christmas came early..

aunty julie and uncle paul managed to squeeze in a visit last night to see lachlan before they jet off to the UK for a long holiday. seeing they were going to miss seeing him at christmas, they brought his present over and we let him open it so that they could see his reaction to it. he's really enjoying pull along toys at the moment so it was a huge hit. we've done several laps of the house already!

Brianna's 2nd Birthday

some photos from brianna's birthday party on the weekend.. lachlan looked very cute in his outfit from his uncle john and aunty karida (one of his birthday presents) although the hat didn't stay on for very long. he found a new toy that he seemed to think was great fun too.. i'm not sure his daddy was as convinced though..

Orchidopexies have nothing to do with orchids!

we had a quiet weekend to give lachlan time to recover from his orchidopexy that he had on friday afternoon, even though you would never guess from watching him walking around and babbling away that he had undergone surgery!

his walking has improved so quickly - he can now negotiate corners (instead of just walking into the wall) and slow down and stop when he wants too. he still holds my hand occasionally, but is just as likely to throw it off and try to make a break for it! sometimes he thinks he is so clever for walking on his own that he will give himself a clap as he waddles around the house.. it's the cutest thing!

i'm not sure if i will get more or less exercise now that he's more mobile - i won't have to carry him or walk him around while holding his hands as often, but i suspect i will be spending more time running around chasing him now.. i guess it will even out in the end.

Cool Dude

lachlan got his first pair of sunnies on the weekend, courtesy of his uncle van. he's been really good at keeping them on when he's in his stroller - not so good when he's in the car, but at least when he throws them off in the car, we don't lose them! i snapped these shots this morning while he was getting ready to go for his ride in the stroller with his popsy..

New Stuff

during the week, lachlan and i went shopping with grandma and she bought him some new shirts, thongs and a hat. the next day, popsy took lachlan out to check the mail and road test his new hat and thongs. lachlan has obviously gotten used to having to wear them, and now will keep his hat on for ages before he tries to take it off and he often goes to the front door and picks up his thongs because he now knows that when he has them on, he's allowed to go walking outside. you can't really see the hat very well, but it has a small pocket at the front and a little giraffe that sits in the pocket - it's very cute!

Going Outside

we've been trying to get lachlan to wear shoes and hats for awhile now, without much success. however, on the weekend, he finally decided they weren't too bad after all - i think he has now associated having them on with being allowed to go walking outside which is one of his favourite past-times. the only problem is that none of the shoes he currently has are a very good fit and most of his hats are getting too small too (95th percentile for head circumference) so i guess i'll have to make another shopping trip to get him some new stuff!

The Hat

lachlan seems to have a thing against hats - we tried desperately to keep him sun safe while he was playing in the pool, but everytime he remembered that he was wearing his hat, he tried to remove it - sometimes more successfully than others..

Caloundra - More Photos

finally, i thought i would post up the only photos of lachlan and me from the weekend.. the hooded towel that he is wrapped in was one of his birthday presents - it's a turtle, complete with tail and is very cute, although the hood is a little big and can slip down over his head making him look like he's trying out for the KKK.
