It's Official!

well, with one kilo left to go until he no longer fits into crawler nappies, lachlan is now crawling!!! his speed and technique need a little work, but considering he's only really been mobile for a week, i'm sure he will improve. the longest distance he has covered in one go is about two metres, but normally he gets sick of putting in so much effort much sooner. he can also roll from his back onto his tummy (which we suspected he could do all along, but just chose not to) and once he is on his tummy, he can push up on all fours (into a crawling position) and then using his arms, push himself back into a sitting position. i guess we'll be putting up the safety gate to block off the kitchen soon, not to mention child-proofing the living room..

lachlan got these pjs from his uncle john, but hasn't fitted into them until now.. i think he is looking less and less like a baby, and more like a little boy everyday.. especially when we dress him in outfits like this..

How Things Change..

it strange to think that it was only a little over nine months ago that lachlan changed our lives forever.. he has grown up so fast, and changed so much since then..

i vaguely remember when he was one day old.. he was so tiny back then..

by the time he was three months old, he had already changed so much, both physically and personality wise..

at six months he was starting to look more and more like a little boy instead of a baby..

and at nine months, his personality is becoming more and more defined..

Daddy's Birthday

john turned 35 on saturday so we had the family over for lunch to help celebrate..

blowing the candles out - lachlan was helping which explains why the candles aren't straight.. luckily the candles had already been extinguished before he made a grab for them..

 

9 Months Old..

well, lachlan turned 9 months old on thursday so i thought i would give you all another quick status update.

physical:
9.74 kgs as of saturday 5th august
two bottom teeth clearly visible (and very very sharp)
left top tooth has cut through gum
right top tooth is visible through gum but hasn't cut through yet

motor skills:
can get up on all fours and throw himself forward onto his tummy
can push himself backwards using his arms while holding his chest up off the floor but tummy on the floor
can bulldozer with his head on the floor and bum up in the air
can twist from sitting postion to laying on tummy
can pivot on tummy
can pull up to standing using toys or people as props
however, seems to have forgotten how to roll from tummy to back - just lays there and gets frustrated and cries when he works out he can't crawl..

feeding:
eats solids for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner
eats between 1/2 - 1 small jar of food per meal
has started on finger foods (mainly bits of bread or cake)
still prefers to be fed tidbits from my plate to being spoon fed his own food

all in all, he's pretty much on average for most things - if only we can get him to sleep through the night again!
