A Shoe Fetish

it seems that in the list of things in his life that seem to fascinate him, mummy's shoes rate way up there.. trying on some high heels and taking a stroll around the house seems to be a daily event.. now all i have to do is teach him about colour coordination!

The Internet Helpdesk

we've decided to start training lachlan up for a job on the helpdesk.. he's worked out how the keyboard and mouse work already - it's only a matter of time before he can configure outlook to pop your lotus account while running liveupdate on your symantec products!

meanwhile, if you are ever chatting to me while i'm at home and weird messages appear in the chat window, now you know why!

Child Labour

lachlan has recently discovered there are things in the broom closet and likes to take them out and play with them.. i figure the earlier we train him to do housework, the better, so i have no problems with him getting the mop and bucket out! took these cute pix the other day when he was "helping" me clean the house..

A Day of Firsts..

today was my first day back at work and lachlan's first day at daycare - i'm not sure who was the most traumatised! all i have to say about being back at work is that it's amazing how some things change so much and yet other things that were supposed to change are still the same.. i spent most of the day setting up my machine with all the software that i need to do my job, and socialising with people and catching up on all the news i've missed.. i guess you could say that i didn't actually do that much in the way of work - in fact, i only took one call!

we took lachlan to daycare early so he would have a little bit of time to get settled in before i had to go to work seeing we were expecting tears.. he screamed a bit after i left (i could hear him from the carpark) but john was able to calm him down after awhile by distracting him with toys. however, things went downhill after john left.. he apparently screamed for over half an hour at which point they called john to say he wasn't settling (and was setting off all the other kids).. when john arrived, lachlan had cried himself to sleep, so john left again. lachlan woke up half an hour later and started crying again, so the staff called john again and john went and picked lachlan up and brought him home.. once he got home, lachlan settled down and was good for the rest of the afternoon, although he has been very clingy with me since i got home from work..

one day down, many more to come.. hopefully it won't take him too long to get used to going to daycare, and not be so upset by it.. but i suspect that it's all wishful thinking on my behalf and we will be in for a tough couple of months..

Family Catch Ups

on friday, we headed over to popsy's and nanna's place for lunch with john's family. i remembered to snap a photo of leah and madeline to post so everyone could see how much she has grown.. it's amazing how much they change in three months when they are this little..
