A Day of Firsts..

today was my first day back at work and lachlan's first day at daycare - i'm not sure who was the most traumatised! all i have to say about being back at work is that it's amazing how some things change so much and yet other things that were supposed to change are still the same.. i spent most of the day setting up my machine with all the software that i need to do my job, and socialising with people and catching up on all the news i've missed.. i guess you could say that i didn't actually do that much in the way of work - in fact, i only took one call!

we took lachlan to daycare early so he would have a little bit of time to get settled in before i had to go to work seeing we were expecting tears.. he screamed a bit after i left (i could hear him from the carpark) but john was able to calm him down after awhile by distracting him with toys. however, things went downhill after john left.. he apparently screamed for over half an hour at which point they called john to say he wasn't settling (and was setting off all the other kids).. when john arrived, lachlan had cried himself to sleep, so john left again. lachlan woke up half an hour later and started crying again, so the staff called john again and john went and picked lachlan up and brought him home.. once he got home, lachlan settled down and was good for the rest of the afternoon, although he has been very clingy with me since i got home from work..

one day down, many more to come.. hopefully it won't take him too long to get used to going to daycare, and not be so upset by it.. but i suspect that it's all wishful thinking on my behalf and we will be in for a tough couple of months..

Family Catch Ups

on friday, we headed over to popsy's and nanna's place for lunch with john's family. i remembered to snap a photo of leah and madeline to post so everyone could see how much she has grown.. it's amazing how much they change in three months when they are this little..

The Christmas Wrap Up

seeing my christmas tree is still in storage and john decided that lachlan was too young for a tree anyway, we didn't have one again this year. instead, we piled all the presents up on the side table in the family room. surprisingly, lachlan wasn't interested in them at all - in fact, the only time he touched them was when one was in his way when he went to open the drawer! i know there seem to be an excessive amount of presents on the table considering there are just three of us, but in our defence, there are also presents for the rest of the family amongst ours.

we spent christmas day at paul and shanice's place this year.. lachlan and tara spent some quality cuddle time on the couch playing with tara's present from his uncle john..

after a yummy lunch of beef on the spit, lachlan decided it was time for a swim.. after heading into the pool fully dressed, including shoes, we convinced him to wait long enough to get changed into his swimmers and then we went back for take two.

Seasons Greetings

merry christmas everyone! hope you all have a safe holiday with good food, great wine and even better company.

we thought it would be nice to dress lachlan up in a xmas-y type outfit and take some photos to turn into cards.. i'm sure that once he's grown up, he will groan everytime he sees these pix, but i happen to think he looks too cute for words..

The Griffith Kid's Christmas Party - The SuperSlide

one of the other attractions on offer at the party was a super slide. obviously lachlan was a little young to be going on it on his own, but that's why having a daddy is so handy. after lachlan gave a cuddle and kiss to brodie, he and john lined up, climbed the stairs and then john came sliding down with lachlan on his lap. lachlan didn't seem overly impressed with the whole thing, but then again, he didn't seem scared either. i don't think the expression on his face changed the whole time he was on the slide?

The Griffith Kid's Christmas Party - Baby Animal Farm

we decided that lachlan was old enough to actually get something out of christmas this year (he was only 8 weeks old last year), so we started things off by taking him to the griffith kid's christmas party. most of the "attractions" there were targeted at older kids, but they did have a baby animal farm on offer, so we crossed our fingers took lachlan in to check out the animals. he was a little overwhelmed to start with as it was pretty crowded in the enclosure, and it quickly went pear-shaped when some kids (of the goat variety) decided to get a little assertive with their sniffing out of snacks. it didn't take him long to bounce back though and we even had him patting a piglet before too long..

Babycino

after my huge shopping spree today (thanks van!) we stopped for some sustenance.. we ordered lachlan a babycino which had more chocolate powder on it than john's cappuccino did - half of which ended up smeared over lachlan's face..

Facial Expressions

thought i would share these photos with you all.. a couple of weeks ago, lachlan has having some milk to drink with his afternoon tea.. he looked a little guilty about the fact that he managed to splash his milk all over his face.. but then he figured he wasn't in trouble and it was all smiles again..

Christmas came early..

aunty julie and uncle paul managed to squeeze in a visit last night to see lachlan before they jet off to the UK for a long holiday. seeing they were going to miss seeing him at christmas, they brought his present over and we let him open it so that they could see his reaction to it. he's really enjoying pull along toys at the moment so it was a huge hit. we've done several laps of the house already!

Brianna's 2nd Birthday

some photos from brianna's birthday party on the weekend.. lachlan looked very cute in his outfit from his uncle john and aunty karida (one of his birthday presents) although the hat didn't stay on for very long. he found a new toy that he seemed to think was great fun too.. i'm not sure his daddy was as convinced though..
