Congratulations Mike & Neri

some friends of ours got married on the weekend and we were lucky enough to be able to attend the festivities.. lachlan stayed with his grandma for the night and was apparently extremely well behaved for her.. it was our first baby free evening in a long time and it was nice to be around other adults doing adult things.. even if we did end up talking about our babies for a good part of the evening!

congratulations to the new mr & mrs harrington!
thanks for a lovely night..

Cot vs Bed

as many of you may know, john and i are both taking some time off from work to do some sleep therapy with lachlan.. unfortunately, we've all come down with colds so we've had to postpone the night sleeping training, but we're getting there with the day time naps. and for anyone who is still a doubting thomas, i have photographic evidence that at some point, lachlan has slept in his cot instead of our bed..

King Of The Castle

lachlan has been getting more adventurous when it comes to playing with his cubby house. he now will normally refuse any offers of assistance we give when he is climbing up and insist on doing it on his own. he has also decided that he can fly and will often stand at the top of the steps and then lean forward and free fall expecting that we will catch him. so far he has only done this when we are close enough to reach him so there haven't been any bumps and bruises to speak of.. not sure if this lack of fear is to do with his belief that no harm will come to him when we're close by, and therefore he can only do things like that when we're there.. it's pretty scary letting him do things on his own when you know there could be lots of tears if things go wrong, but the smile on his face when he makes it to the top all on his own is worth the butterflies..

Climbing Monkey

i've been slack lately and haven't taken any new photos so i went to through my existing ones looking for some that i could post. these pix are from a few months ago.. lachlan and i were at one of the many local parks that has playground equipment suited to little climbing monkeys.. as you can see, he was getting quite adventurous even then, and has gotten even more independent and daring since these were taken..

Baby Animals

the local primary school had it's annual fete on saturday so we took lachlan for a walk to check it out. they had a baby animal farm set up there and after about five minutes of watching the animals from his pram outside the enclosure, lachlan decided he would like to go in and give them a pat. he seemed most interested in the chickens and ducks and spent a bit of time walking around trying to catch them.. with a little help from his daddy, he even got to give a couple of the chickens cuddles! obviously the six months that has passed since his last experience with this type of thing has made a huge difference in his reaction..

Caring and Sharing

lachlan is turning out to be a very affectionate little boy who willingly shares everything with those he considers to be his nearest and dearest, even if they aren't actually real.. here are some pix of him feeding crackers to his clown "gymbo", giving him a little kiss and then laughing hysterically because he knew i was taking his photo.. note the scary molars on the bottom gum..

Some New Stuff

thought i would post some pix of some of the new toys that lachlan has gotten since i did the fisher price corner photo. there are way too many things to fit into one corner now and we consequently have toys scattered throughout the house.. mind you, this is a good thing seeing he doesn't seem to stay in the one place for very long..

Artist at Work

lachlan has recently discovered the joys of "drawing" and spends a little time each day at his table scribbling with his crayons.. at the moment, he is mostly drawing lines, and not always with the right end of the crayon, but you have to start somewhere i guess!

Dig Dig!

last week we took lachlan to toys r us with the intention of buying him a motorcycle ride-on that was advertised in the catalogue. although he was practically screaming in excitement when he saw it, he quickly lost interest once we sat him on the demo one and instead pointed to a bob the builder digger that was on display nearby. there was another digger that was advertised in the catalogue that was $30 cheaper and also had a movable scoop so we decided to buy that one instead, even though there wasn't a demo model in the store for us to let him play with to see if he liked it.. once we got home we discovered that fortunately for us, we had chosen well and he was thrilled with his latest addition to the play corner..
