All the Toys in the World..

after all the money we spend on toys for lachlan, we still find that some of his favourite things are games he makes up from stuff around the house.. his latest is pretending the stroller liner is the cart and his nappies are trolleys.. he will play "trolley cart" for up to an hour at a time.. putting the "ramps" up and down on the "cart" then driving it around the room to pick up all the "trolleys" before taking them back to the shop to unload them..

we wanted to take lachlan to the beach while we were on holidays over christmas, but the weather wasn't very cooperative so instead, we did a quick run into southbank on monday while it was clear for a couple of days. lachlan had no qualms about hitting the sand and water and happily made sandcastles (mostly into the water) and splashed around. he played for over an hour before i decided it was getting too hot and too crowded and we left to go find some lunch. i know where we'll be on fine weekends during the next couple of months!

That's a Wrap!

well, 2007 is over in a couple of days and i'm left wondering where all the time has gone. so much has happened this year. i went back to work part time and lachlan started daycare part time. it took quite awhile, but around october he started really settling in and having really good days there. he made a little friend and the two of them follow each other around all day. he is also quite the little helper and can often be found putting the toys away at the end of the day.

he has continued to develop into a lovely little person (although a little mummy dependent at the best of times). he walks, runs, climbs and attempts to jump on pretty much everything these days.. he chats to us all day about what he's doing and what's going on around him. he's discovered his whisper voice and will often be found sitting on the floor whispering to himself about what he's doing.. he is still obsessed by diggers of all kinds, tractors, garbage trucks and motorbikes (some of which he got several of for christmas from doting family).. he loves to paint and draw and read and watch his little hardhat movies..

this week he has started asking to sleep in his cot although he is still insisting on his cot being next to mummy's bed so he can climb out and cuddle if he gets lonely.. and he's decided that bath time isn't so bad after all, so long as mummy does it - apparently daddy does a bad job and if he fills up ducky, then we have to empty it and start again.. john and i have both been on holidays at home with lachlan for the past couple of weeks and he's loving all the attention and quality time he's getting with us..

next year, i'm back at work full time and lachlan will be going to daycare full time so it will be a rough start to the year i'm sure. i'm not looking forward to it, but hopefully he will settle in okay and once he has his routine down then he'll be a happier little boy. if not, john may go fractional and pull lachlan back to part time so i get a chance to focus on my career and look for some new opportunities..

i'm not expecting to do much in the way of posting next year.. maybe a post a month or so to keep you all up to date with what is going on, but i suspect that with all the changes, quality time with the computer will be fairly low down on my list of things to do when i'm not busy doing everything else..

have a happy new year everyone.. rock on!

The Birthday Boy

lachlan turned 2 on saturday and we celebrated with a family party on sunday.. i decided that this year i was going to enjoy myself and play with my son instead of playing hostess the whole time, so i didn't bother picking up the camera, but i took a couple of snaps on monday morning of him playing with some of his new presents.. he had a great time playing with his cousins and being the centre of attention and seemed to appreciate my cake decorating efforts (i stuck a little tonka bulldozer and dump truck on his cake) and was relatively well behaved the whole weekend - although he was much more interested in playing with his truck-bins (garbage trucks) and forklift than he was in going to bed..

Nudies

well, every baby album has to have one and seeing that his 2nd birthday is only a week away and he won't be a baby for much longer, i thought it was time to add the obligatory nude bum photo.. lachlan thinks it's great fun and laughs his head off while running around the house yelling "nudie"..

Ride Ride Ride

i thought i would take some more pix of lachlan scooting around on his little bike.. he is getting faster and faster and you need to almost run to keep up with him when he decides to go for broke.. it's quite funny (but very cute) watching his chubby little legs working away!

Holidays

lachlan has taken to amusing himself by pulling my suitcase out of the wardrobe and climbing inside it while announcing that he is going on holidays and then getting me to wheel him around the house.. i guess we'd save on air fare if we ever decided to let him travel this way!

oh, and yes, that is a nappy that gymbo is wearing.. don't ask, it's a long story.. :D

Mow Mow Mow

with all the rain we got a couple of weeks ago, the grass has been looking greener than it has for a long time, but was desperately in need of a mow. never one to sit on the sidelines, lachlan got out his mower and helped his dadda.. he even went over the the neighbour's yard and gave their new turf a bit of a going over too!
